Guests of Honor

Foolscap is pleased to announce that Esther Friesner and Michael Kaluta have accepted our invitations to be Guests of Honor at Foolscap X!

Flyer

Our current flyer is available (front) and (back).

Call for Pictures

As part of our tenth anniversary we are looking for photos from the first nine Foolscaps. If you are willing to share your photos (for use in our program book, or on a CD, depending on the number of submissions), please email them to us.

New Hotel

WE ARE MOVING! After several years in Bellevue, Foolscap is moving to the Marriott Hotel at Redmond Town Center in Redmond, Washington. To make a reservation, either click on this link or call toll-free (800) 218-7141 and reference our Foolscap block.

Program

Now is the time to send us your panel ideas. All members of Foolscap are potential panelists, so let us know if you’re interested in being one.

Nanobites

Foolscap’s banquet is called Nanobites. With the move to a new hotel, we will have a new menu, but we are pleased to announce that the price will remain the same: $26. You must be a member of Foolscap to attend the banquet. Click here to view the menu.

Librarian in Residence

King County Library System’s Kirsten Edwards was our Librarian-in-Residence at Foolscap IX, and we’re hoping to have her back this year. Watch this space for further details.

Reading Group

Beginning with Foolscap VIII we started a Reading Group. For Foolscap X, we have chosen Deryni Rising, by Katherine Kurtz. If you would like to recommend a book for a future year, please contact us.

Foolscap Blog

Foolscap has a blog of its own at Live Journal (“foolscapseattle”). Here’s a short FAQ:

Can I get there if I don’t have a live journal account?
Yes. Simply post as anonymous and sign it anyway you wish.

Can I make a live journal account?
Yes. It’s free if you want it to be (basic account level), with full posting privleges.

Must I use my real name?
Your choice. You can create a live journal account under any “handle” you choose.

Remember - Foolscap has free parking for all members!

Foolscap Auction

If you have something to donate to the Foolscap auction, please email us, and we’ll make arrangements to get it to Foolscap. Thanks!

General Information

We continue to add to our string of fools, with this year’s convention, once again featuring flat things and funny hats, an art show, programming, a dealers’ room and a feast.

This year we are moving to the Marriott Hotel (Redmond Town Center), Redmond, Washington, with access to many fine shops and restaurants.

We are keeping our early fall dates — this year’s convention will be September 26 to September 28, 2008 — a great way to start the fall convention season and a lovely time of year in the Seattle area.

We hope you’ll continue your tradition of supporting Foolscap by buying your membership for 2008 now.

Membership rates will be higher at the door. By purchasing your membership now, you save money and provide Foolscap with the early support it needs to be a wonderful convention.
